Julian Nida-R\u00fcmelin<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Naturalism as a world view is a phenomenon that has accompanied the success of the natural sciences since the late\n18th and early\n19th century.\nIn different variations, it represents the thesis that only the natural sciences open up our knowledge of the world and that all other forms of knowledge and cognition must ultimately be traced back to them.\nThe lecture will make it clear why any form of naturalism is incompatible with a humanistic perspective on people and their living environment and endangers the ethical foundations of a humane way of life.    <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The speaker studied philosophy and physics as a double degree, completed his doctorate and habilitated under the philosopher of science Wolfgang Stegm\u00fcller in Munich.\nHe sees himself as a humanist philosopher<g id=\"gid_0\">(Humanistische Reflexionen<\/g>, Suhrkamp 2016, <g id=\"gid_1\">Digitaler Humanismus<\/g>, Piper 2018, 2023, engl.\nOpen Access), he was Chair of Philosophy and Political Theory at LMU Munich until 2020 and has been Rector of the Humanistische Hochschule Berlin since 2022.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Moderator<\/strong>: Katrin Raczynski (Humanistischer Verband Deutschlands &#8211; Bundesverband)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Humanism and naturalism<br \/>Keynote speech: Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c.
