This right is currently under threat from a parliamentary initiative by conservative MPs who are seeking to ban euthanasia as comprehensively as possible. <\/p>\n\n<p>In particular, the issue of assisted suicide is at the center of the ongoing political and social debate. High-profile representatives of the Humanist Association of Germany have now taken a stand on this issue and put forward their own proposals. These include not only &#8211; under certain conditions &#8211; the controlled provision of medical assistance in dying, but also the introduction of qualified suicide counseling to prevent suicides.
