The discussion was moderated by Jonas Skorzak. The panel featured international humanists: Monica Belitoiu from Romania, Dr. Lone Ree Milk\u00e6r from Denmark, and Katrin Raczynski and Prof. Dr. Ralf Sch\u00f6ppner from Germany. The latter delivered the opening remarks on the topic <strong>\u201cBalance and Resistance.\u201d<\/strong>   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Katrin Raczynski emphasized how difficult it remains to find a democratic response to the rise of the far right: Despite significant efforts by politicians and civil society, they have not yet succeeded in reversing this trend in a sustainable way.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This makes it all the more important to reconnect with people who have lost faith in politics and democratic institutions.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Humanist organizations can make an important contribution, especially in polarized times, by creating spaces where controversies, differing perspectives, and even dissent can be tolerated and constructively addressed.
