HVD Humanists Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e.V.

Self-determined and solidary – We are a community in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern that stands up for a humanistic society.

We, around 20 members of the Humanist Association MV (HVD MV), represent a secular view of life and the world. Our association has been representing the interests of non-religious people since October 28, 2006. It participates in the discourse in all areas of society and is committed to human rights, peace and gender equality. We focus on a scientific explanation of the world and conscious ethical reflection. We criticize any dogmatism, rely on rationally comprehensible reasons and expect the same from others. The principles that guide humanists are: secularism, self-determination, individuality, solidarity and tolerance.

Around 80 percent of all inhabitants of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern do not belong to any church or religious community. Three out of four non-denominational citizens have non-religious views on life. According to representative surveys, around a third – around 400,000 people – “fully and completely” endorse humanist beliefs, attitudes and values.

Humanism is a democratic and ethical view of life

For us, humanism means standing up for a more humane society and a better world.

Whether in Wismar, Schwerin, Rostock, Stralsund, Neubrandenburg or Greifswald – the members of the HVD MV are a point of contact in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern for secular educational events, information days, support services and humanist exchange. We look forward to hearing from you.
