The Humanism Foundation Berlin has set itself the goal of promoting humanist life at various levels. It was founded in 2006 and obtains all of its funds from endowments, legacies, donations and the income from its endowment capital. The foundation uses these funds to support projects and plans of the Humanist Association Berlin-Brandenburg, the Young Humanists in Berlin and Brandenburg and the Humanist Academy Berlin-Brandenburg in the form of annual distributions.
In addition to this support, the Humanistische Stiftung Berlin also promotes its own projects. For example, projects in youth and elderly care as well as art and culture are supported. The foundation also awards two prizes: The “Humanism Prize for Human Rights” and the “Youth Shaping the Future” prize.
