A central idea of humanism is education and thus the conviction that humanity can find a better life through knowledge and science. The Humanist Academy Germany (HAD) was founded to communicate these ideas and provide a forum for debate. It is dedicated to the promotion of humanistic studies – i.e. the history, theory and practice of humanism.
The Humanist Academy Germany is the study and educational organization of the Humanist Association of Germany (Federal Association). Since its foundation in 2006, the Berlin-based academy has organized a large number of public lectures, discussions and conferences. At the same time, she conducts intensive research, publishes academic writings on the subject of humanism and is involved in political education.
Through this mixture of knowledge transfer, discourse and research, the humanistic idea is to be further developed and constantly updated. The regular publication “humanismus aktuell – Zeitschrift für Kultur & Weltanschauung“, in which articles on current issues and topics of humanism can be read, serves as a mouthpiece. The Federal Academy has been an educational institution recognized by the Federal Agency for Civic Education since 2009.
Humanist Academy Berlin-Brandenburg (HABB)

The HABB is dedicated to researching and teaching humanistic theory and practice. The Academy is closely linked to the practical work of the regional association.
