Call for a demonstration: Take a stand against racism and exclusion!

Thousands of people will take to the streets for the large-scale #unteilbar demonstration in Berlin next Saturday. The Humanist Association of Germany (HVD) is also supporting the initiative as the first signatory.

“Racism and contempt for humanity must not become socially acceptable,” demands Grit Lahmann, Managing Director of the HVD Federal Association. “We humanists do not tolerate group-based misanthropy – not even under the guise of criticism of religion. That is why we, as the first signatories of the #indivisible initiative, are standing side by side with churches, Muslim, Jewish and other religious communities against racism and misanthropy on this day.”

Together with the organizers of the #unteilbar initiative, many other nationwide organizations, private individuals and celebrities, the Humanist Association of Germany is standing up for an open society based on solidarity. “Together, there are many of us who are resisting the constant attacks on our political culture and our institutions and standing up for human rights and an open society,” says Lahmann. “Join us in sending a strong signal for a humane society based on solidarity!”

The opening rally of the nationwide demonstration under the motto “Solidarity instead of exclusion” will begin on Saturday, October 13, at 12 noon at Alexanderplatz in Berlin. From 1 p.m., the demonstration will set off in the direction of Leipziger Straße, with the route leading via Potsdamer Platz, Ebertstraße, past the Brandenburg Gate and along Straße des 17. The complete #unteilbar program and the route of the demonstration can be found here.
