Late termination of pregnancy must not remain a taboo – Against the existing practice of indication!

In the case of abnormal fetal prenatal diagnostic findings, a late termination of pregnancy is always possible and is often even suggested. However, if continuing the pregnancy is unbearable for the pregnant woman for other reasons, a train ticket to the Netherlands is often the only option for an abortion. The Federal Commissioner for Women* and Diversity of the Humanist Association of Germany, Dr. Christine Zunke, emphasizes: “What we primarily need is not a new indication regulation, but a different practice.”

Illegality and immorality in Section 218 StGB – reform in December?

The German Bundestag is today debating an initiative to revise Section 218 of the German Criminal Code. A cross-party group of MPs is demanding that abortions up to the end of the twelfth week of pregnancy should no longer be illegal. The Humanist Association of Germany – Federal Association sees the current draft reform on the legality of abortions as a first step in the right direction.
