Hamburg

In the tradition of freethinkers and humanists in Hamburg and the surrounding area, our association has been working since 1994 for the interests, rights and equal rights of those people who recognize the central principles of humanism for their lives and for whom a self-determined life is important.

Our cultural and educational activities offer interested parties the opportunity to exchange thoughts and ideas, e.g. at group meetings, readings or lectures.

We come together for celebrations and festivals throughout the year – e.g. World Humanitarian Day and Human Rights Day, solstices – and in the course of our lives. Under the motto “Celebration(s) with a difference”, we provide support and advice on how to organize humanistic celebrations of life. Our ceremony speakers are available for naming ceremonies, marriage ceremonies for all couples and renewal of vows as well as emancipation ceremonies.

At street festivals, we offer the program item “Philosophizing with children” and take part in the Christopher Street Day parade. At our information stands we provide information about the work of the HVD. We are committed to the introduction of a school subject “Humanistic Life Skills” in Hamburg. We also offer advice and information on living wills and health care proxies.
