The Humanist-Existential Care Autumn School 2026 is designed to be a space for exchange, networking, reflection, and collaborative work on the practice of humanist-existential pastoral care. People from various European countries are invited to come together, share experiences, reflect on their work, and learn from one another.
Humanistic-existential pastoral care offers people emotional support through professional and empathetic conversations. These trained professionals work in settings such as hospitals, the armed forces, prisons, and colleges, where they are often part of an environment that also includes spiritual counselors from other ideological and religious communities.
The event is aimed in particular at people who are affiliated with humanist organizations or who work in the field of humanist-existential pastoral care. The focus is on personal and professional exchange, as well as on joint reflection on how humanist-existential pastoral care can be implemented in practice.
The Autumn School is part of the EHSN’s efforts to further develop humanistic-existential pastoral care in Europe. Among other things, the network is working to establish common professional standards and to strengthen international cooperation in this field.
