“Some people are no doubt tired of the topic by now,” writes editor Erwin Kress in the editorial of the new issue 127. “But of course we can’t ignore the pandemic either and have to deal with it. After all, people all over the world have been experiencing an unprecedented crisis for months. Not all of the effects are foreseeable. Many problems are being visibly exacerbated by the coronavirus, while other crises are being lost in the media coverage and are not receiving the attention they deserve.
In this issue, we therefore want to approach the topic of crisis from a humanistic perspective: What can we do in times of crisis? What humanistic interventions are possible? How can we deal with problems that have become visible due to corona? How do we deal with the fact that other problems and crises have been overlooked?
The better we examine their causes and possible solutions, and sometimes the closer we move together, the more likely we are to overcome crises. Not physically, of course – we will have to keep our distance for a while yet – but on a human, humane level.”
