On September 10, 2023, storm “Daniel” hit Libya, causing severe storms and catastrophic flooding in the north-east of the country. According to the United Nations, the death toll in the city of Derna rose to over ten thousand and thousands of people are still missing. The Supporting Psychological Healing for Libya’s Flood Survivors project provides psychological support to people affected by the floods in Libya. The aim of the humanist initiative is to offer survivors care and psychological support in order to improve their psychological and social well-being following this environmental disaster. The initiator of the project is Ahmed Elbukhari, Libyan writer, human rights activist and chairman of the humanist Tanweer movement in Libya.
