About us

Thinking about and shaping our world with a human touch.
This is what unites us, and this is what we work toward—professionally and together.

As a community of like-minded people, we advocate for the rights of humanistically oriented individuals. We stand up for democracy, human rights, and self-determination.

Get to know us and become one of us. To support our national office, we’re looking for a volunteer social media editor who will work with us to manage and further develop our social media communications.

Job profile

You’ll help us manage our social media channels on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, working closely with our national headquarters.

Your responsibilities will include, among other things:

  • Regular monitoring of selected social media accounts in the fields of the humanities, civil society, and social policy
  • Identifying suitable content for reposts and our ongoing editorial work
  • Research on relevant topics, current debates, and days of action
  • Developing ideas for original social media content and formats
  • Preparing and creating posts, Stories, and Reels
  • Content tailored to specific target audiences for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
  • Creating and customizing graphics and simple videos, e.g., using Canva
  • Support with editorial planning
  • Contributing your own ideas and experiences to further develop our social media communication

We’re not just looking for someone to help with individual tasks. We’re especially excited to find someone who can bring their own experience and perspectives to the table, try out new formats, and work with us to figure out how we can further improve our social media communication.

What you should bring with you

  • Practical experience with social media and a good understanding of what types of content and formats work on different platforms
  • Experience creating or managing social media content—whether professionally, as a volunteer, for your own channels, an organization, an initiative, or another project
  • a keen sense for relevant topics, interesting content, and current social media formats
  • An interest in sociopolitical issues, as well as a commitment to humanistic values and human rights
  • A good feel for language and strong written and spoken German skills
  • proficiency in using common digital tools
  • a structured, independent, and reliable approach to work

A specific degree or formal training in communications or social media is not required. What matters more to us is that you have practical experience, are comfortable using social media, and are eager to contribute your knowledge and ideas to our team.

Experience with Canva or similar applications is a plus. If you also have experience with Reels and short videos, community management, social media strategy, or analyzing social media metrics, we’d be especially pleased.

What we offer

  • the opportunity to actively help shape the social media communications of a nationwide humanist association
  • Opportunities to contribute your own ideas, develop new formats, and take on editorial responsibility
  • Insights into national and international communications and public relations
  • a wide range of topics in humanism, society, politics, ethics, and human rights
  • Collaboration with our national headquarters, as well as insights into the work of our state chapters and international partner organizations
  • the opportunity to use published work in your own portfolio, subject to agreement
  • Flexible work organization in remote format
  • Upon request, a formal certificate documenting your volunteer work

General conditions

  • volunteer work
  • Time commitment: about 3–5 hours per week
  • Work location: fully remote
  • Duration: initially for 6 months, with the possibility of a longer-term collaboration
  • Start date: flexible

Promoting equal opportunities for all employees and volunteers is a matter of course for us. We therefore welcome applications from people of all ages, regardless of gender, cultural and social background, disability, nationality, beliefs, or sexual orientation.

Application

If you’re interested, send us your resume and a few sentences about yourself, your experience with social media so far, and why you’d like to join our team.

If you’ve already managed social media channels, created your own content, or worked on other digital projects, we’d also love to see examples or links. These can include professional or volunteer projects, as well as your own social media channels.

A formal cover letter is not required.

We will get back to you shortly after receiving your application.
