Mandatory Internship in Communication & Sociopolitical Research (m/f/d)

Pflichtpraktikum_Kommunikation
The Humanist Association of Germany – Federal Association is seeking an intern in the areas of research, communications, and organizational support, starting in November 2026 or later. We look forward to receiving your applications!

About us

Thinking about and shaping our world with a human-centered approach.  That’s what unites us, and that’s what we work toward—professionally and together.  As a community united by a shared worldview, we advocate for the rights of humanistically-minded people. We stand up for democracy, human rights, and self-determination. Get to know us and become one of us.

To support our national office, we are looking for an intern to assist with research, communications, and organizational support.

The internship is offered on a part-time basis. Since most of our team also works part-time, this allows us to ensure reliable professional guidance as well as thorough preparation and follow-up on tasks. The specific number of hours and the duration of the internship are determined by the guidelines of the respective university.

Job profile

During your internship, depending on current projects and your interests, you’ll support our team with tasks such as:

  • Research on sociopolitical, association-related, and historical topics
  • the creation and editorial preparation of content for the website, online magazine, and social media
  • managing and developing our social media channels, for example, through topic research, editorial planning, and preparing posts
  • the editorial maintenance and further development of our websites, such as structuring, formatting, and migrating content
  • research and preparatory work for communications projects, such as press relations, public relations, or digital offerings
  • the preparation of events and projects
  • organizational and administrative tasks in the federal office
  • the preparation and—depending on interest—support for events and high-profile occasions
  • participating in historical projects, for example by conducting research and, upon agreement, also by performing individual assignments in the archives

The areas of focus you’ll take on during your internship will depend on the projects currently underway, as well as your knowledge and interests.

What you should bring with you

  • Compulsory internship as part of a degree course
  • A degree in, for example, political science, social sciences, communication or media studies, history, philosophy, economics, or a comparable field
  • Interest in socio-political issues and civil society work
  • Structured and reliable way of working
  • Very good German language skills (at least C1 level), particularly excellent written communication skills

What we offer

  • Insights into the work of a nationwide humanist association
  • Contributing to topics related to humanism and human rights
  • Insights into Collaboration with State Associations and Civil Society Actors
  • Flexible work organization in remote format

General conditions

  • Compulsory internship as part of a degree course
  • Part-time status, number of hours, and duration are determined by the university’s guidelines
  • The internship will be conducted entirely remotely. Depending on your interests and availability, you may also participate in individual meetings or projects on-site in Berlin or Brandenburg; however, this is not a requirement for the internship.
  • The internship is part of a mandatory study internship and is therefore not remunerated.
  • Internships are available starting in November 2026. We also accept applications on an ongoing basis for later start dates.

Equal opportunity and diversity are a given for us. We welcome applications regardless of gender, age, disability, cultural or social background, nationality, beliefs, or sexual orientation.

Application

We look forward to receiving a brief application, including your resume and details about your preferred internship period, at info@humanismus.de.

We’ll get back to you shortly after we receive your application.

Please include a letter from your college confirming your mandatory internship with your application.
