The Humanist Association of Germany – Federal Association has received responses to its election touchstone for the 2025 Bundestag elections from five parties represented in the Bundestag. The topics range from children’s rights and climate protection to reproductive self-determination and the equality of humanist and religious perspectives in society. Late termination of pregnancy must not remain a taboo – Against the existing practice of indication!

In the case of abnormal fetal prenatal diagnostic findings, a late termination of pregnancy is always possible and is often even suggested. However, if continuing the pregnancy is unbearable for the pregnant woman for other reasons, a train ticket to the Netherlands is often the only option for an abortion. The Federal Commissioner for Women* and Diversity of the Humanist Association of Germany, Dr. Christine Zunke, emphasizes: “What we primarily need is not a new indication regulation, but a different practice.”
